CHANGELINGS is the newly reformed solo project of twentyfour year old Melbourne-based artist, ‘Jay Penaflor’. After a busy year of recording in 2016, CHANGELINGS and the band will be here performing at the Workers Club this May for the first time under the new name.
Back in December 2015, Jay and fellow bandmates graced the Workers Club stage with the launch of Jay Penaflor’s last solo EP 'Human Abstracts’. This time he is returning to showcase new songs from CHANGELINGS’ dreamy, melodic debut album ‘Poppyfields’ which was released in December 2016. With inspiration taken from bands like Wild Nothing, The Smiths, Beach House and Tame Impala, ‘Poppyfields’ can be described as a 'straight to the point’ guitar and synth-infused indie rock/ dream-pop album.
In March this year CHANGELINGS released a follow up single ‘Fridge Buzz #2,’ which hints at Jay's fondness for the trippy sounds of Mac Demarco and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
In celebration of the release of ’Poppyfields’ and ‘Fridge Buzz #2’, joining CHANGELINGS on the night are the amazing musical vibes of specials guests Eddy Dillon and Polykite.
