Friday 14th October
Dreamcoat (EP Launch)
Doors 8:30pm / $12 Entry
Dreamcoat return to our stereos after a successful string of singles, looking to wrap listeners tightly in their bubble of complex and brooding guitar music with the release of their debut EP “Sleeping Through Tempests” (recorded with Blank Tape Music). The release is a consolidation of “love songs not intended for the faint hearted,” lead vocalist Kieran Ebert says, and “fuses pop music with a lecherous relationship with technical harmony and complex rhythms”. After the release of the second single from the EP “Winter” it became clear that these boys have an intriguing facet to their musicianship, where they can seamlessly link harmonic complexity with melodic simplicity and produce what seems like a genuflection towards Psych Folk gods Grizzly Bear and Alternative Pop giants Local Natives.
Dreamcoat bring their hypnotizing set of lush guitar blankets, unusual fingerpicking, intriguing harmonic territory and polyrhythmic buttery goodness to The Workers Club on the 14th October 2016, marking the release of Sleeping Through Tempests. The night will be an alternative pop/psych-folk extravaganza with supports from some of Melbourne’s finest; Frida and James Teague.
