Joel James debut EP “I’m a Fool” didn’t waste any time on making an impact, jumping straight to #29 on the iTunes charts only one day after release. Side by side with Twenty On Pilots album “Vessel” on the charts, the YouTuber who is known for his weekly cover music around the world had now made just a small footprint in the Australian music scene.
Written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered all in his bedroom, his followers (or how he calls them, his “family”) can not help but comment on how professionally studio-like his covers and original music all sound. The independent Singer/Songwriter has never had an instrumental or vocal lesson, nor any education on sound engineering. “For the most part, it’s all trial and error” - he tells his fans.
The Indie/Alternative artist started writing this EP whilst busking the lonely, yet homely Melbourne streets. Although he still busks, he is moving forward with his story having tour dates planned in support of his debut release. The first venue being at The Workers Club Fitzroy, his fans are itching to see how the YouTuber will put on a show.
Although radio air time is still a void to be filled, many have predicted a bright and successful future for the Melbourne boy. “All he needs is a little break to get the ball rolling” - says an old ‘Young Talent Time’ team member.
Supporting Joel are The Anticks, a non-genre specific spectrum of heavy, boppy and chilled out sounds that fuse British roots with the heart of the Melbourne alternative scene!
And the smooth, sassy, and super catchy three piece band by the name of Exy!
