Melbourne jazz/world fusion outfit Neon City Pilot are taking their high-energy live show to The Workers Club to launch their latest track, the driving afrobeat-inspired Anansi. Since releasing their debut album Ghost Wings last year, the instrumental 5-piece have crossed over from their jazz club origins and created a brooding, intense Afro-Jazz dance track, somewhere between Fela Kuti and Snarky Puppy. Neon City Pilot began in 2014 and have thrilled audiences from Australia to Europe with their unique mix of instrumental chops, rock riffs and stylistic influences from around the world. Melbourne-based West African musicians Lamine Sonko (vocals and percussion) and Kofi Kunkpe (percussion) feature on the single and will be joining them on stage on the night, and support is from Bella Wolf, The Senegambian Jazz Band and Elle Young (PBS DJ).
