Summon The Birds (Album Launch)
Doors 1:00pm / $10 Door
Independent Australian label Hidden Shoal is proud to announce that expansive folk-rock five-piece Summon the Birds will be launching their new album Blood Love with a matinee show at The Workers Club on Saturday 17th March 2018.
Creating a sound that [sic] Magazine describes as a “rich universe with narrative character and personality in abundance”, Summon the Birds embrace the slow-burn masters like Talk Talk, Pink Floyd and The Drones to lay detail on the sonic canvas according to the song, not the popular vote.
Several years in the making, Blood Love features a detailed analysis of a seventeenth-century autopsy, clairvoyant descents into hollow Earth, and light tripping through ancestral clouds. Humming tight on 33 minutes of vinyl transcendence, Summon the Birds have demanded nothing less than excellence from themselves and eminent Melbourne producer Tim Johnston (The Drones, Nick Cave, The Dandy Warhols).
Coming along for the tonal prophecy are The Chops, who improvise robust bursts of expansive groove-rock, and Melbourne’s answer to First Aid Kit, Littlest Birds, fronted by sisters Elissa and Rosie Michell, whose harmonic graces have even the non-believers reaching for their superlatives.
